Facial Hair Removal

Having hairless facial skin that comes out smoother and silkier must be the dream of every man and woman in every decade.

Over the years, many methods were introduced in getting rid of unwanted hair on the face area especially the eyebrow and upper lip area for the women and on the mustache and beard areas for the men.

They are now both seeking newer alternatives in getting rid of unsightly facial hair.

“Facial Hair Removal is one of the most wanted beauty treatments, from both men and women.”

While there are already quite a number who turns to cosmetic procedures such as laser treatment or electrolysis, there are still many who are using the more conventional methods like shaving, tweezing, waxing or using depilatory creams.

Shaving is an easy way to get rid of facial hair.  It provides only temporary results though and is not a recommended type of facial hair removal for women who might also have unwanted hface hair removalair problems especially on the upper lip.

Hair regrowth with shaving tends to come as rapidly as they were shaved.

Tweezing is a good alternative in getting that bothersome facial hair off your face as the method calls for plucking the hair out by the root resulting in the hair taking longer to grow back. It is a somewhat painful procedure though and is only commonly used along the eyebrow area.

Another painful but effective method of getting rid of unwanted facial hair is waxing. This method, that is usually done at every four to six weeks, is performed by applying hot or cold wax to that part of the skin where there is unwanted hair. The hair is taken away after the wax, to which the hairs have already been appended to, is pulled off. You should test the wax for possible allergic reaction on a small patch of skin before you use it. Wax should also not be used on skin that has been burned by the sun or irritated.

If you want a gentler way to get rid of that unwanted hair, using depilatory products could be the answer for you. These products that come in gel, cream and lotion forms has a formulation that contains a hair structure-altering chemical that results in the easy removal of the hairs.

You must use a specially-formulated facial depilatory product as the chemical could be an irritant to the skin. Before product use, it is best to always perform a skin test on a small patch of facial skin. Directions for the use of the product should be followed for chemical burns and irritation avoidance. Its results will only last up to several days.

If you want to use a method that would ensure permanent facial hair removal, then you could go by using electrolysis. It is a type of hair removal that uses an electric current to destroy the roots of hairs. This may require several treatments though as because the process calls for the destruction of each hair follicle one at a time. Hair removal through electrolysis is not advised to be done for more than 15 minutes per session.

Another method that could result in the permanent removal of hair after a number of treatments is the hair removal through laser. A licensed professional should be the one to perform this procedure. There are also a lot of things to consider before going for this process, which calls for disabling patches of hair follicles at a time through the use of laser energy, as it has a number of benefits and risks. It is also expensive and time-consuming. The length of treatment usually depends on the size of the area where the hair should be get rid of. Doing a full face would take as long as 20 minutes though. Only one session will also not do the trick as at least 6 expensive sessions are needed to get the desired result of a hairless face.

Before trying on any of these facial hair removal methods, it is best to consult your doctor first on what should be the best for you especially the process that you have chosen is not conventional. You should try using a lotion with alpha-hydroxy acid after performing any of the treatments. This is a skin-exfoliant that aids in the prevention of hairs growing inwards.

If none of these methods prove beneficial to you, you could opt for hair bleaching. This is not only an easy method but it is safe as well. And, as most if not all of these types of hair removal methods cause irritation of the skin or discomfort, it is best that utmost consideration be put on the benefits and risks involved in doing the procedures.
