Permanent Hair Removal
Unwanted hair has always been a
problem for people who are conscious with how they look. There
are some people who have a lot of hair in their arms, legs,
bodies and faces that they end up looking like a monkey or a
gorilla. Women are more conscious about this than men; that is
why they take up painstaking methods just to make their skin
appear flawlessly smooth.
There are two methods of removing unwanted hair, that is,
temporarily and permanently. Temporary hair removal involves a
routine of hair plucking and hair shaving which could be very
painful and a waste of time trying to get hairs by their roots
one by one or trying to shave it off and risk cutting your skin
with those sharp razors. On the other hand, the process of
permanent hair removal won't take up another three to four
weeks until you repeat the process.
Procedure
Removing the hair through electrolysis is a
permanent method. Although laser treatment is said to be
permanent but it has not been proven yet. Electrolysis
takes treatments after treatments; that is why it is
expensive. You have to look for a technician with great
skills in order for you to be satisfied with the results.
Do some research, seek out the previous customers of the
technician that you have chosen and ask them about the
process of the hair removal.
Two types of equipments use the current of electricity for
hair removal; these are the tweezer epilator and the needle
epilator. The needle epilator brings a fine wire inside the
skin and through the follicles of the hair. The current of
electricity courses through the wire and damages the root of
the hair which is located at the follicles' bottom part.
The hair gets loosened and then is pulled out with tweezers.
Each strand of hair is treated personally. The treatment is
considered as permanent since the technique of removing the
hair damages the follicles of the hair. However, the root of
the hair might still persist if the electricity utilize to
damage the follicle is not sufficient or the needle does not
hit the mark. Unfortunately, new growth of hairs brought about
by the changes in hormones can't be controlled.
There is also a device for home usage and it works like the
ones used by professionals. These machines, which claim to be
painless hair removal, are available through mail order.
Costs
Since electrolysis is assured as removing the hair
permanently, it is quite expensive. It can cost you a high
price of $200 to $249 for the work done by the professional.
And for the device used at home, it can cost you $100 to $119
which is quite expensive also basing on its use which is
doubtful if it is effective or not.
Benefits
Since the electric current damages the root of the hair
which is at the follicle's bottom, it is assured that it is
permanent because the method damages the follicle of the hair.
And each strand of the hair is treated personally. Unlike other
techniques of hair removal, this one is rest assured that
the hairs won't grow back, not for a long time, that is.
But then, frequent treatments will surely get those hairs
which the device missed before. This one won't let you worry
that you still need to shave or pluck your hairs. With the
absence of hair follicles, then unwanted hair won't grow any
longer. Your body parts which you worry about because they have
so much hair on them will now look smooth and
flawless.
Dangers
A great risk for this kind of method is electric shock. This
happens when the needle isn't insulated in a proper way. A
non-sterile needle can also cause infection and if the
technique is not done properly, it can cause scars. Despite its
benefit of giving you flawless skin, it has no standard uniform
license which regulates its practice.
There are only thirty-two states in the United States need
licensed electrologists. Despite the great job that it does on
your skin, it can be a very painful process with all those
electrical currents coursing through your skin.
For the home-used electrolysis, the voltage is low which makes
it doubtful if the machine works. Its operation is also tricky
and you won't know if you are tweezing your hairs or zapping
it.
